Paul Havas
About
"Paul Havas is one of a small handful of Northwest artists who have found continuing nourishment in painting landscapes. Certainly he is one of the most successful." -- Deloris Tarzan Ament, art critic
"I actively look for painting sites, for places or subjects that might trigger my interest. Sometimes it seems they find me, the unplanned glimpse through piers of a bridge or the reflections of a window on a black piano... At night, shapes can suddenly disappear into the matrix of darkness. It's ambiguous. It gives me great liberties. If I see a hint of color from some electric light, I just take off." --Paul Havas
Paul Havas is an accomplished painter; able to transport us among the scenery he loves and knows so well, from the Skagit Valley to downtown Seattle. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University in 1962 and earned a Master's Degree from the University of Washington in 1965.
He has taught at the University of Washington, the University of Idaho, and Stanford University. He was good friends with Northwest painter William Ivey, discussing painting and the arts. He has had numerous exhibits throughout his career as an artist in the Pacific Northwest.
