Jared Rue | Undercurrent
Reception: Thursday January 15th, 2015 from 5:30 - 8:30
Closes: February 20th, 2015
"My paintings are personal metaphors for the expression and navigation of my thoughts, feelings, emotions and psyche during struggles such as those we all face in life. Finding beauty amidst the chaos. Peace. The undercurrent that is present in all of us at various times in our lives.
We sometimes struggle to project beauty, sanity or status quo in lieu of the reality of where things may be. It can pull you under or you can swim with the current. My use of metals literally and metaphorically represents current. Water is movement. The trees are strength and security, home. Duality, flood, seasons, drowning, expansion, totem, reflection, growth, movement, intuition, copper, celebration, oil, buoyancy. These are the themes that recur in my mind and have manifested in this body of work." --Jared Rue
